The Alchemy Index actually consists of four parts: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. The first two volumes, Fire and Water, consist of six songs each and were combined into one album. I personally think that the effect of the music was lost when separated like this, but they did it so I can’t really complain about spilled milk. “Digital Sea” is the first song (and single) from the Water volume, and it’s pretty damn brilliant. Thrice has never been very electronic-minded, but they’ve been shifting in that direction since Vheissu and they’ve finally mastered it.
