Since Something Corporate made a name for itself back in the late 1990s with its debut album Ready… Break they’ve made a name for themselves as piano rockers for teenagers. This album shows a maturation from that view, even though the music is still piano rock and still mostly for teenagers.

The production here is flawless. Every song flows seamlessly into and from each other, and the songs are so similar lyrically that you are left in a sonic daze. None of the songs particularly stand out from the haze, which makes the entire album far easier to listen to as a whole than in its parts. Considering that Jack’s Mannequin, lead singer Andrew McMahon’s solo project, released Everything in Transit after this, one can easily see the similarities between the two. North sounds like the smoother, radio-friendly stepbrother of Everything in Transit.
