Final Straw, Snow Patrol’s previous album, was beautiful in its simplicity like a well-crafted poem. Eyes Open is not as bare, but it is still as heartfelt and lyrical as its predecessor. “Songs like Set The Fire To The Third Bar” and “Make This Go On Forever” are so brutal in their pain and desires that I was moved when I heard them for the first time.
The only downside to Eyes Open is that Snow Patrol now has a ‘distinctive’ sound, which it never had before. I hope they keep experimenting with their talents in the next album.
