I'm not the hugest fan of electronica/trance/whatever-it's-called. It seems very impersonal to me, and far too detatched. However, my faith in electronica was boosted by Frou Frou's album Details. Like the rest of the world, I 'discovered' them because of the movie Garden State.
I was really amazed when none of the songs on the album were impersonal and only a touch over-produced. Imogen Heap has one of the most distinctive and honest voices I've ever heard. By 'honest' I mean that she knows her limits as a singer and doesn't really push it. The lyrics here aren't earth-shattering; in fact they seem to be purposefully simple because the background is so much more complex.
